Conductor, Triangle Youth Symphony


Tony Robinson has been the conductor of the Triangle Youth Symphony since 1996 and has been an instrumental music teacher for twenty-three years. A graduate of Western Carolina University in Cullowhee, North Carolina, he began his career in Pisgah, NC.  From 1987- 2000, Mr. Robinson led the Cary [NC] High School Band in performances across the United States, in France and in England, receiving national and international acclaim. He is currently Director of Bands, Fine Arts Team Leader and School Improvement Team Chairperson at Wakefield Middle School. He has won the Teacher of the Year commendation from Cary High School (1999-2000), Wakefield Middle School (2000-2001), and the Wake County PTA Council (2002-2003). In 2005 he was awarded the NC Central District Bandmasters Association "Award of Excellence". Mr. Robinson serves as Music Director at his church and is a clinician and adjudicator for Winter Guard International. top

Marta C. Findlay-Partridge is a graduate of the New England Conservatory of Music. She has been a member of the strings staff of the Wake County Public School System for twenty years. An active performer in the area, Ms. Findlay-Partridge has been the Associate Conductor of the Triangle Youth Symphony since its inception and was the founder and conductor for nine years of the Raleigh-Triangle String Orchestra, the predecessor of the Triangle Youth Orchestra. Ms. Partridge was among the first group of music educators to earn certification in 2002 from the National Board of Professional Teaching Standards. Her educational essay, “Unplanned Lesson Plan: A Teacher's Perspective on 9/11”, was published in 2003 in Powerful Teaching and Learning: Stories from the Classrooms of Accomplished Teachers . Ms. Partridge conducted the Robeson County All-County Honor Orchestra last spring. She is also the 2004 recipient of the Maxine Swalin Outstanding Music Educator Award, presented by the North Carolina Symphony. top
